Easter Weekend

I am so proud of myself!! I have just come back from a big adventure…visiting E-mart all by myself! I had a nice lie in this morning along with some tea in bed (happy days: I acquired a mug & the world’s tiniest teaspoon from school which the girl before me had left behind), read some of my book, wrote down some important phrases from my dictionary into my notebook for easy reference and then showered (the boiler is working now so I have hot water). After my tea I used my mug & the world’s tiniest teaspoon to eat my cereal out of. It took quite a long time. Then I started writing a shopping list, top of the list was a bowl, cutlery & cleaning products (I really feel like I am living in someone else’s dirty apartment). In case you are wondering about the mould, it is still there, in the microwave. It’s disgusting! The problem is I don’t know where you get rubbish bags from (Junsik asked at E-mart & they don’t sell them) and you can’t just use any old packet here.
While waiting to cross a busy intersection a Westerner appeared beside me (the first one I’ve seen so far!) and greeted me. His name is Joel and he teaches at a girls middle school (he’s been here 11 months). He also arranges a language exchange get-together at a coffee shop close by on Sundays and Mondays, so I might go to the one tomorrow evening (when I find out what a language exchange get-together is exactly, I’ll let you know!)
Later…
I’ve just come back from a lovely afternoon with Junsik, his wife Yonok & their cute little girl Ohnew. I asked him where to put the mouldy bowl so he made a plan and got it out of here, thank goodness. Then we headed off. First they took me to a cheap shop where I could get things I need so amongst other things I bought a fridge deodoriser (yes, that smells too), an umbrella and then disgraced us all when I dropped a wine glass on the floor. I think Junsik was very embarrassed!
Yonok & Junsik lived in Australia for 2 years so they can speak pretty good English. Little Ohnew can also speak a little because she learns it at pre-school. She presented me with a little basket with 3 boiled eggs in it for Easter and she also sang me some songs. We later went to the Cheonan Museum which was pretty interesting and there I had a very touristy photo on a big chair dressed in weird robes that are apparently the officials’ robes. A silly hat also made an appearance, and Ohnew was super-cute and climbed on my lap for the photo. This will be uploaded later because it is on Junsik’s camera as I haven’t got one yet. We also went for an early dinner at a buffet-style restaurant where I tried squid ink pasta, which tastes like what you’d expect squid ink to taste like, and looks like grey spaghetti.
